As per the law for immigration in Latvia, international students from third countries enrolled in Latvian universities or colleges are required to apply for a long-stay visa at the diplomatic and consular representations of Latvia in the third countries. long-stay visas are valid for up to 90 days and after getting a long-stay visa and entering Latvia international students are supposed to apply for a residence permit at the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of Latvia (OCMA).
Residence Permit
A residence permit is an official document from the government of Latvia allowing foreigners to live in the Republic of Latvia for a definite period of time (a temporary residence permit) or permanently. A residence permit is required if a foreigner wishes to stay in Latvia for more than 90 days. International students are required to apply for a residence permit within 180 days of arriving in Latvia, counting from the first day of entrance.

Post-study Work Permit in Latvia
