You need atleast a masters in psychology in India. Most universities take only graduates who had done psychology at the bachelor level into the master level program. So you have to search a lot to find out the university that would take non-psychology graduate into the master in psychology program.
The University of Kozhilkkodu in Kerala admits candidates who have any graduate degree, but since the competition is high, regular students with high marks get admitted to the program.
There is no licensing for child psychologist, but you need at least a masters in psychology from one of the accredited universities in India. Ph.D is not a must, but your doctoral degree in the field of child psychology helps you secure job as child psychologist.
However if you want to practise as a child clinical psychologist, you need to do an M.Phil in clinical psychology program from one of the RCI recognised training centres and get the registration from RCI to practise as a clinical psychologist. During the training one has the option of working with children and get specialised in the area. Again, there are no special centres for training , apart from the institutes that has got good child clinical psychology training units.
