Hi,
Yes, you can apply for Master's degree in psychology from any stream and you can pursue M.Phil in child psychology, and further you can think for Ph.D programs. The Master's degree is for 2 years and M.Phil is for 2 years, but Ph.D in regular mode is for 3 years from 2016 as per UGC guidelines.

You need atleast a masters in psychology in India. Most universities take only graduates who had done psychology at the bachelor level into the master level program. So you have to search a lot to find out the university that would take non-psychology graduate into the master in psychology program.
The University of Kozhilkkodu in Kerala admits candidates who have any graduate degree, but since the competition is high, regular students with high marks get admitted to the program.
