Yes! You are eligible to pursue a career as a teacher if you have completed a BA Geography or MA Geography degree. However, you should consider also pursuing a B.Ed. It will help you increase your chances of securing a job in a school, as most schools prefer to hire teachers with a B.Ed. If you want to become a government school teacher, you will also have to clear the TET examination, which is conducted annually and is used for hiring teachers in government schools across India.Hope this helps you.

Students who want to study Geography courses at the UG level (BA Geography) need to complete their 12th grade from a recognised board. Most colleges allow students from all streams to study Geography as long as they graduate with a minimum of a 40-45% score. Students do not need to compulsorily study Geography in school if they wish to pursue it in their UG. However, students do have to clear entrance exams like CUET to pursue Geography.  It is advised that students check the eligibility criteria of the colleges they wish to apply to.

The average Geography course fee is not fixed. It varies from institute to institute. A Government college generally provides Geography courses at a lower cost, as it is funded by the state/center. A private college generally offers Geography courses at higher course fees, but generally also has better infrastructure and well-maintained and modern lab equipment, etc. On average, the Geography course fees generally range between INR 10,000 and INR 1.5 Lakh.

The course duration of a Geography course depends on the level at which it is being pursued. A BA Geography course is an undergraduate degree of three years while an MA Geography is a two-year course. The course duration of a Diploma in Geography course ranges between 6 months and 1 year, depending on the institute, while a certificate course in Geography is a short-term course, generally less than 6 months.
