The best option is to apply for IMUCET. It is the entrance examination for Indian Maritime University that provides technical education in naval science. It would be the best option if you truly want to join merchant navy. From there you will receive many offers and opportunities to become a merchant navy officer.

B.Sc in nautical Science is not a technical course. The best job it would be able to get you is of navigator or related. Diploma in Nautical Science is a technical course and there are many vacancies released each year for Diploma holders. For example, Technical Entry in Navy is for Diploma Holders.

Hi, it depends about your aptitude. B.Tech is an undergraduate academic degree conferred after completion of a three-year, a four-year, or even a five-year (such as in Nigeria) programme of studies at an accredited university or accredited university-level institution. Merchant navy officers are employed by commercial shipping companies to work on all kinds of seagoing vessels, such as cruise liners, cargo ships, tankers and hovercraft. These guys typically adopt a deck officer or engineering officer role in a team leading capacity.

There are several ways of working in the merchant navy. The best way in my opinion is to get admitted in IMU or Indian Maritime University. They have several courses in Engineering and Science. It is a very good government college that provides opportunities in the naval field. There are also various other exams like AIMNET etc. But you should aim for IMUCET. It is the best option.
