Eligibility for B.Sc. In Nautical Science. As a minimum criterion of eligibility, the course requires the candidate to have attained the 10+2 qualification in the Science stream with Physics, Math and Chemistry as main subjects, and a minimum aggregate score of 60%.

All you need is a one-year specialised course. A one-year Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) course after mechanical engineering would give students the licence to enter merchant navy. This one-year GME course is all you need to become a marine engineer after doing mechanical engineering.

You can join the merchant navy from age 16 as an officer cadet or as an apprentice able seafarer (deck). You'll need at least 4 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English, maths and physics (or combined Science) or equivalent qualifications. In defence, I am assuming you mean to say Indian Navy that protects and safeguards the country's exclusive economic zone, the ocean resources and the coasts from any invasion. But in addition to IMUCET, you also have to clear sponsorship exams of shipping companies, these exams are now heavy on competition and candidate has to get sponsored by a good company to secure admission in IMU courses.
