- To join as a Deck Officer
1. B.Sc. Nautical Science (3 Years)
2. Diploma in Nautical Science (Leads to a B.Sc. Nautical Science. Duration is 1 year)
- To join as an Engineer
1. BE/B Tech Marine Engineering (4 Years)
- To join as a Rating after Class X or XII
1. Pre Sea GP Rating Course (6 Months)
- To join in the catering department after Class X or XII
1. Maritime Catering Course (6 Months)
2. B.Sc. In Marine Catering (3 Years)
Above are the merchant navy courses that may be pursued after Class XII.

Hi Mandar, You should opt for non-medical Science in class 11th and class 12th. Once you have completed your class 12th, you can apply for NDA exam. You may also opt for B.Tech entry after class 12th. The exam is conducted twice a year - every six months usually in April and August.

Hi,
In case of joining Indian Air Force and Indian Navy as Officers, there is no provision available for commerce student's right after 12th. They may join Indian Navy or IAF after graduation though.
Commerce stream students may join Indian Air Force as officers (in Ground Duty Branches) after graduation, by appearing for AFCAT examination.

You have to clear SSB. Speaking about the test process, it is the easiest test where you just have to be yourself. They assess your personality. There is no need to actually prepare anything. Technically, as a trait of your personality you must know what happening around you, in the world, in your country. After spending 4 years of your education in the field you chose, you must have knowledge about it, just the basic knowledge of what you studied. They just look for a responsible personality. Hi Lokesh,
Yes, of course. You just need to register yourself on the site, join Indian army. Well, the registration will start from around 5th June, and then you will be called for SSB, clear it and then clear medical. Get your name in merit list, then after 5 years of training, you will be an officer. Well, this entries name is Navy B.Tech entry for freshers just after school. Thanks.
