ECE graduates are eligible to seek admission to get trained as an ETO in Merchant Navy. Once you are ETO trained there will be no difference between EEE and ECE graduates.

Hi Amir,
There are numerous employment opportunities in this field. Candidates who have finished the basic course in merchant navy can easily get jobs through various consultants & placement agencies. Merchant navy fleet consist of cargo ships, tankers, bulk carriers, container ships, barge carrying ships, refrigerators ships, passenger ships as well as roll off/roll on ships. The possibility of finding employment in cargo ships is more as compared to the others.

Mechanical Engineering is the best degree to become Naval Officer. If you do not want to join Indian Navy after B.Tech Mechanical Engineering you can join Merchant Navy by doing one year diploma course to become Marine engineer.

You can become Naval officer by appearing for NDA examination conducted by UPSC after 10+2 PCM from a recognised board. You can also take direct admission to join Indian Navy as Technical officer by appearing in JEE Mains. You can join Indian Navy as a technical officer after Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic engineering gradation degree also.
