Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc.

The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year for the selection of candidates for assistant professor posts in the university and colleges, to pursue the Ph.D. and for JRF award. The candidates are allowed to apply UGC NET for the subject in which they have completed the post graduation degree or if the subject is not available they can apply for the related subjects. Yes, The Question Papers are the same for JRF and Assistant Professor in UGC NET Exam. UGC NET Exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency for selecting the deserving candidates for lectureship or awarding Junior Research Fellowship. This exam is organised for total 81 subjects. For each subject, the Paper is divided into two parts I. e. Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is common for all the subjects whereas Paper 2 is based on the subject that you choose. There are so many candidates who have asked this question that whether it is compulsory or not to have a UGC NET Certificate to become a lecturer. So, here you can check the perfect solution to this query. As per the UGC guidelines and rules, it is mandatory to clear UGC NET Exam to become an Assistant Professor or Lecturer. Candidates who have completed Ph.D. are also not exempted from this exam, however, such candidates get 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks for NET Exam.
