To become an Assistant Professor in India, you generally need to clear the National Eligibility Test (NET), conducted by UGC or CSIR, depending on the subject. Alternatively, if you're applying for teaching positions in specific universities, some may conduct their own entrance exams. A Ph.D. degree can also make you eligible without clearing NET in some cases, depending on the university or college's criteria.
