For becoming a lecturer, you must do UG, PG M.Phil, and clear NET, SET etc. You must be specialized in one particular subject.

Hi Darwin,
It will depend on what you want to to teach. If you want to teach Chinese in a US school, then you can learn Chinese. Common sense says English is the first language so you must be very good in English not only to become a lecturer but to survive and to get any job in an English speaking country like USA. How many years will depend on your background and experience.

Hi,
You will have to complete your graduation (3 years after 12th) then you will have to pursue Master's degree (2 years after Bachelor's degree). And then you will have to clear UGC NET exam which can take one single attempt or even a lot of attempts so that totally depends on you. But after 12th a minimum of 5 years will be compulsory and then depending on when you clear that exam, you can become a lecturer.
All the best.

Chances are always subject to research qualifications and it doesn't matter which subject you choose. So, excel first in research.

Dear,
As per your query, I feel you should pursue your passion with your Engineering. Like you can join British Council and prepare yourself for CELTA.
The Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Teaching Award (CELTA) is an internationally recognized teaching qualification, which follows a four-week curriculum designed by the University of Cambridge.
CELTA is considered to be an international benchmark, English language teaching certification and the only qualification is accepted by many language schools around the world.

For lecturership, you have to clear NET/SET. It is a must requirement for PGT after clearing TET. You can only teach up to class 12th.
