It is good to become a lecturer. It will be much better, if one can become a government Lecturer, getting UGC scale, from the beginning. You can improve yourself intellectually and at the same time, you can enjoy the company of young people.

If you are interested in lecturer field, first you can write and quality in NET examination. NET exam in conducted by UGC University Grant Commission twice in a year.
Eligibility criteria for NET:
1. Educational qualification:
You must have a degree in post-graduation from any recognized university with 55% marks exemption for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates as per norms.
2. Nationality:
You should be a citizen of India.
3. Age eligibility:
As per UGC norms, there are no maximum age eligibility for NET exam.

To become a lecturer, one has to apply, appear and crack NET exam after post-graduation degree with required eligibility.
NET: National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC twice every year. One in June and another in December every year for the selection of lectureship and award to JRF (Junior Research Fellowship).
The eligible candidate must be an Indian National and have scored 55% marks (50% for SC/ ST candidates) in any stream from a recognized university. There is no upper age limit for those applying for lectureship, but those applying for JRF should be within the age of 28 years.

Yes, you can but the designation will not be of a professor, you have to start as a lecturer and then assistant and associate professor. Soon after M.Tech you can take board.
