The 11th and 12th standard classes come under senior secondary education in India. It is also known as PGT. You can also become a government PGT teacher by fulfilling the following requirements:
1. You need to have completed a graduation degree in the subject that you want to teach at the senior secondary level.
2. You should also have a B.Ed. Degree with 50% marks.

Polytechnic teachers are also appointed through Public Civil Service (PCS) Examination Test. There is no uniformity in qualifications. Yes, of course you are qualified to apply for a position as a secondary school teacher in a government school. However, you are eligible to apply for the position of secondary school English teacher. This is because your master's is in English literature. The majority of government exams, like the DSSSB for example, demand that applicants hold a master's degree in the field in which they are submitting their application in secondary school.
