AILET 2027 Eligibility Criteria: NLU Delhi has started accepting the applications for AILET 2027 for admission to both BALLB and LLM courses from August 7, 2026 onwards. Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can only apply for the exam, or else their candidature will be rejected at the later stage. The exam body published the AILET 2027 notification, at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The registration for AILET 2027 entrance exam will end on November 10, 2026. Through AILET 2027, candidates will be able to apply for admission to BA LLB (Hons) and LLM courses offered by the National Law University, Delhi.

Since, NLU Delhi conducts its own entrance exam and does not accept CLAT exam scores , the eligibility criteria for its law courses are as prescribed here. AILET eligibility criteria 2027 are mandatory not only for filling up the AILET 2027 application form, but also for securing a seat during the counseling process. The exam authority verifies all the documents pertaining to the AILET 2027 eligibility criteria for BA LLB, LLM in Law courses.
Candidates who want to apply for undergraduate or postgraduate courses must meet the basic eligibility rules for the AILET exam.
Every applicant should have the required passing marks and valid certificate for the course they choose. If someone is applying under a reserved category, they must show a certificate from the right authority proving it. For candidates coming under the PwD category, a medical certificate from a recognized medical officer showing 40% or more disability is needed to claim eligibility. These documents are important to confirm the category and qualification before applying for the AILET exam.

No, candidates were not allowed to appear for the examination without a valid photo ID. Candidates were advised to keep the following three things ready with them, a day before the examination; a valid photo ID proof, AILET admit card, and a recent passport-sized photograph. These were the mandatory documents to be produced during entry to the AILET exam centre. The valid photo identity card which would be allowed at the AILET 2027 exam centre include Aadhaar card/ Driving Licence/ PAN Card/ Passport/ Voter Id. The admit card should also have the passport and postcard-sized photographs pasted on it.
Candidates can submit maximum 3 preferences for AILET centre. Choosing preference for exam centre is mandatory to submit AILET application. Candidates will get to know about allotment of exact centre once the admit card is released. The NLU Delhi releases admit card online comprising crucial details about exam including name and address of AILET centre. The admit card can be downloaded from the official website after its release. To download AILET admit card, candidates need application ID, password, and Exam Unique Code (EUC).
NLU Delhi provides admission to its BA LLB and LLM programme based on the AILET scores. However, all other NLUs in the country accept CLAT scores for providing admission to their courses. Candidates can sit for both the entrance exams to expand their scope of admission.
AILET merit list has the name of the candidate, registration number, and rank. It also gives instructions for admission and seat reservation. If candidates do not pay the fee within the time, their candidature will be cancelled.
AILET Eligibility Criteria 2027 for BA LLB course
The eligibility rule for the AILET BA LLB course given by NLU Delhi means that any student who has passed the Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 system) or an equal exam with at least 45% marks can apply. For SC, ST, or PwD category students, the minimum marks needed are 40%. Students who are still in Class 12 and waiting for their final results can also fill the AILET application form. Their admission will be confirmed later after showing the Class 12 mark sheet during counselling.
- A candidates must have passed class 12 examination or equivalent examination from a state board/ national board of education - ICSE/ CBSE/ CISCE
- The candidates must have obtained 45% of total scores in Class 12 examination, if they belong to General or OBC categories
- Those belonging to SC, ST or PwD categories can claim 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks if they submit the relevant documents as a proof. If they have 40% or above scores then they are eligible for AILET 2027.
- There is no relaxation in minimum marks for candidates belonging to any other categories other than SC, ST, and PwD.
Candidates who are giving their Class 12 exams while filling the AILET 2027 application form can simply mention it and write that the result is awaited. Their eligibility will be checked later during counselling when they show the original documents proving they passed the Class 12 examination. It’s important to keep all mark sheets and certificates ready for verification at that time.

AILET BA LLB Eligibility Criteria 2027 for Exemption
Only candidates belonging to OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals category are exempted to appear in AILET exam only if they secure 65% marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination. Other than this, no candidate will be exempted from AILET 2027 for admission to any law course offered at the law university.

No, AILET Entrance Exam cutoff is released separately for the various categories. For instance, the cut-off is available for categories like Open, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PH categories. Note that open category candidates will not be considered for admission under reserved category seats. However, candidates belonging to reserved category will be considered for admission under both open and the reserved category they belong to. To be considered for admission under reserved category, the candidate must furnish the required category certificates. However, any candidate who is found using counterfeit documents can be disqualified at any stage of the admission process.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2027 for LLM course
Candidates seeking admission to LLM course at NLU Delhi need to fulfill the following AILET eligibility criteria as given below:
Candidates who have obtained an “LL.B. or an equivalent law degree with 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities). Candidates appearing for final year LL.B. annual examination are also eligible to apply”, this means:
