Central Queensland University is a research, inclusive education university which was founded in 1967 and is based in Rockhampton, Australia. It was originally founded as the Queensland Institute of Technology (QIT). History
Central Queensland University was originally founded in 1967 as the Queensland Institute of Technology (QIT) Capricornia. Gladstone Campus was established in 1978 and Mackay Campus was established in 1987. In the year 1988, Bundaberg Campus was established. In the year 1992, the university was granted full university status. Then, in the year 1994, the name of the university was changed to Central Queensland University. Sydney Campus was also established in the same year.
In the year 1997, the Melbourne campus was established and then in the year 1998, the Brisbane campus was established. Then, in the year 2014, the university merged with CQ TAFE to bring together more than 175 years of combined experience in education delivery and training and establish Queensland’s first comprehensive, dual-sector university.
