The Australia Regional Visa Subclass 491 Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa is tailor-made for skilled workers who want to live and work in regional Australia. Applicants are allowed to bring their family members. Based on the applicant's eligibility, he/she can be granted the Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491). The subclass 489 visa is closed for new applicants but those already holding this visa and are looking for an extended stay on this visa can apply for it. 

There is another visa called the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494) which is basically offered to those who have an employer sponsorship to work in regional Australia. Applicants who are skilled workers and who want to live and work in regional Australia can apply for the temporary Australia Regional 489 Visa. Applicants would be required to live, work and study in specified regional areas of Australia. Candidates are required to hold a subclass 475, 487, 495 or 496 visa. Applicants in possession of this Visa are eligible to stay in Australia for 4 years from the date of issue of their subclass 475, 487, 495 or 496 visa. They would be allowed to live, work and study in specified regional areas of Australia, and allowed to travel to and from Australia as many times as the applicant desires, while the visa is valid
