Students looking to pursue higher education in Australia, are required to apply to the recently introduced Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) that has been initiated on July 1, 2016. As per the recently introduced visa guidelines implemented by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Government of Australia, all students planning to study in Australia need to apply for visas under Subclass 500 which has been newly introduced. Earlier, applications were accepted under different subclasses. Recent changes have combined the erstwhile subclasses 571 - 576 under one subclass i.e. Subclass 500.

Study in France

Students looking to pursue higher education in France are required to apply to the 82 state universities, five Catholic universities or the many private institutes spread across the length and breadth of France. Universities award three types of degrees - Licence (UG), Masters (PG) and Doctorate (PhD). The country offers aspirants different types of student visas and they include, Visa de court séjour pour etudes (‘Schengen’ short-stay student visa), Visa de long séjour temporaire pour etudes (temporary long-stay visa) and Visa de long séjour etudes (long-stay visa), for education purpose. Study in Germany

Education in Germany is a very serious affair and they have everything calculated to the last cent. Every year, according to the prevailing economic conditions as well as the relevant fee structure, every university would request that a monthly sum is provided for the student to facilitate his living expenses in the country as well as for completing his education, this money is deposited in a Blocked Account. Study in Netherlands

An Indian Student planning to study in the Netherlands requires a Visa to enter and stay there for the purpose. Students are required to apply for the relevant student visa, depending on the kind, of course, he/she is planning to undertake – Schengen Visa (for courses less than 3 months) and Entry Visa - MVV and VVR or Residence Permit for Bachelors/ Masters from the Netherlands. A student planning to take up a course which is over 90 days in duration would need a Residence Permit to stay in the Netherlands for the purpose of completing their education. Q. How much bank balance is required for student visa?

A. The amount of funds requiredto obtain a student visa varies from country to the type of student visa you apply for. The approximate amount of funds that the students must maintain in tehir bank accounts for applying for a student visa to study in different countries are as follows:

Q. Does student visa need IELTS?

A. Whether a student visa requires IELTS depends on the specific country and university you are applying to. Some universities and countries require proficiency in the English language to determine if a student will be able to grasp the concepts that will be taught to them in English. Since IELTS is a widely accepted English language test worldwide, it is preferred but is not a compulsion. Students can also take other English tests like TOEFL, Duolingo and PTE depending on the fact whether their chosen university accepts the other tests. 

Q. How many documents are required to apply for the student visa?

A. The first and foremost requirement for a student visa is an original document and a xerox of the passport with at least 2 blank pages and a validity period remaining 180 days from the date of application. With this, the students must also attach 2 of their coloured passport-sized photographs. The other important documents required for a student visa application are:

  • An acceptance letter from the host university containing the details of the course that you enrolled in.
  • Proof of financial aid to support your studies and living costs in a foreign country.
  • Test scores of a standardised language test.   

Q. Which country's student visa is easy to get?

A. Getting a student visa depends on your application and the number of available student visas for your country's students in the host country.  In some cases, the issuance of student visas also depends upon the diplomatic ties between the host country and the country of origin. So, it's difficult to say which specific country has an easy visa process as the processes and requirements keep changing. This shows that NCI is moderately selective for admissions and international students may find it comparatively tougher to get into. Q:   Is MIT costly for Indians?
