Between July 2023 and July 2024, a lot of changes have been witnessed in visa applications and their processing times, especially for students. These are key findings for the student visa processing changes in Australia for international students:

  • The student visa processing times have increased and 90% of the applications are assessed within 7-8 months in 2024. Previously they were assessed in a 47-261 days time period.
  • Since the Australian student visa fee has increased, by 125% which is AUD 710 to AUD 1,600, thus, a looming downfall in visa applications.
  • Other Temporary student visas which required extension annually have been halted. And there is no processing time in 2024.
  • Overall, student visa applications that rose by 60% up to September 2023, have recorded a dip of 30% since then.
