Curtin College: Courses, Admission, Cost

Curtin College is an Australian public research university founded in 1966 as the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT). In 1987, it was renamed as Curtin University of Technology after it gained university status. Later, in 2011, it became Curtin University. The college is named after the Australian Prime Minister John Curtin who served office from 1941 to 1945 and then passed away while in office.

Curtin is based in Bentley and Perth and is considered the most significant and most multicultural university in Western Australia. Students who complete a diploma at Curtin College can get direct admission into the second year of the bachelor's degree at Curtin University. The university is ranked among the top 1% of the universities worldwide. Curtin is renowned for its innovative, high impact research, strong industry partnership, and is committed to preparing students to be industry-ready when they complete their studies. It is registered as a higher education provider under the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).

Curtin College has campuses in Perth, Dubai, Malaysia, Kalgoorlie, Mauritius, and Singapore. It has exchange programs with universities all over the world. The Robertson Library is at the heart of the campus and houses the latest research technology and academic resources providing access to a vast collection of learning materials and a technology-rich environment.

Curtin has partnerships with more than 90 institutions worldwide and industry partners include Alcoa, Alzheimer’s Australia, Bankwest, BHP Billiton, Cancer Council Western Australia, Chevron, CSIRO, Rio Tinto, the Water Corporation and Woodside. Curtin College has also engaged Navitas Professional to provide College graduates with work placement internships, mentoring support, interview coaching sessions, and career readiness workshops. This collaboration offers students the opportunity to gain real-world experience with industry and valuable employability skills.

The college offers programs in a wide range of areas, which include Architecture, Construction & Built Environment, Business & Commerce, Communications, Design & Arts, Engineering, Health Sciences, Computer Science & Information Technology. Over 10,000 students have graduated from Curtin College and progressed into the second year of their chosen bachelor’s degree. Under the conditions of a student visa, students can work for up to 40 hours per fortnight during the semester. During holidays, they can work full-time.

Curtin has produced quite a few notable personalities, some of which include Carrie Bickmore, winner of Lifetime Achievement Award, Daryl Davenport, recipient of the Community Service Award, Dr. Mariyam Shakeel, recipient of the Global Impact Award. Rebecca Bignell won the Young Achievement Award, David Gribble won the Professional Achievement Award for Business and Law and Dr. Josephine Ratna was awarded the Volunteer Leadership Award.
