Studyabroad.shiksha.com got in touch with Chirag Singh who is studying bachelor in Computer Science at the University of South Florida, the USA with a scholarship.

Q. Tell us your name and where are you studying?

Chirag Singh (CS): Hello, I am Chirag Singh. I am an undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science at the University of South Florida (USF).

Q. Which course and country did you choose and why?

CS: I am majoring in Computer Science at the University of South Florida. I went ahead with this course because this is the thing I was most interested in since I entered high school. I really wanted to do something in the field of Software so here I am. Also, I went ahead with the USA because it is the main hub when it comes to technology and it offers a very flexible curriculum in Computer Science. My course curriculum has a subject called Science Selective. In that class, I have more than eight options so I went ahead with Astronomy and this allows me to have a side interest in which I can study or do some research activity. So the curriculum is really flexible. The global exposure it offers you is really great.

Q. How was your experience with the Shiksha counselling team? How did you discover us?

CS: My experience with Shiksha.com has been really great. Mostly, I interacted with Priyank sir and he helped me a lot. Especially, preparing for my visa interviews. He was always there when I felt a bit anxious or needed to ask something. So the experience has been really great. I got to know about shiksha.com through my father. Actually, my father was looking for some rankings and about the course. That's when we found the website of studyabroad.shiksha.com and from there we got to know more about the Shiksha Counselling Service as they contacted us. From there our journey began.

Q. Which all universities did you get admission to? Did you receive any scholarships?

CS: Yes, I applied for four universities in the US and I got selected in all four of them. Some of them were Arizona State University, Eastern Michigan University, and of course USF, and the University of Arizona. I got offered scholarships in all of the universities.

Q. What are you most excited about?

CS: I am most excited about the events that are happening here right now and the events that will happen in my major. The computer science major has a lot of events lined up here. Many hackathons and many such events are lined up. I am really excited about them.

Q. One piece of advice to future study abroad aspirants

CS: I would like to tell them to expect the unexpected. Things may not go as you would have planned so always have a plan B and just be open-minded and accept the challenge. You will face challenges. Everyone I have interacted with, who has traveled from other countries, has faced some of the challenges like some missing their luggage or missing their flight. Sometimes things could go out of your hands. Just be calm and everything will be alright.
