Northeastern University History
The university was founded by Boston's Young Men's Christian Association. The main Boston campus of the university is located within the city on Huntington Avenue and Columbus Avenue ear the Fenway–Kenmore and Roxbury neighborhood. Northeastern University also has campuses in Charlotte, North Carolina, Seattle, Washington, and Toronto as well.
Earlier, in 1896, the directors of the Boston Young Men's Christian Association had established an institute to improve their classes that had been evolving throughout the years. After being established, the university was incorporated as Northeastern College in 1916. Northeastern University later gained status in 1922 to become a full institute. In 1937, the Northeastern University Corporation was established with a board of trustees composed of 31 university members
