Northeastern University has a competitive and opportunistic learning environment.
Tips: Northeastern University is a prestigious institution that provides a lot of opportunities to its students. The faculty are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and experts in their fields. The university also provides a lot of opportunities for its students to get comfortable in the workforce. During your four years, you'll have two co-op opportunities, which will give you a chance to make money and help pay for school while gaining hands-on experience. The public transportation system is convenient, accessible, and affordable. You can easily explore any part of the country. Overall, I am satisfied with my experiences here.

The challenges, growth and opportunities at Northeastern University.
Tips: Adapting to a cultural and academic environment was both challenging and enriching. I didn't avail of any scholarship as it's very difficult to get for international students for some courses. I am very satisfied with the course and the country although I found Northeastern a bit expensive than other universities.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is very well connected to the rest of the city via public transportation. There are trains, buses and bikes available at very low prices. We have both bus and train stops at the campus which makes it very easy to travel. Also, there are monthly student passes available at fairly low prices if you travel a lot using public transport.
Dislikes (Part time work): It is very difficult to get an on-campus job at Northeastern University because there are a lot of students and the jobs are comparatively very less. The average payout is $14/hr for part-time work. Having a part-time time is manageable because you can schedule your shifts according.

Good experience and the college provides lots of on campus events for networking.
Tips: The people are friendly and helpful, and the academics are excellent. However, there are no scholarships, so tuition assistance is not guaranteed. There are lots of networking events, which I find very helpful. I'm pretty satisfied with my experience here, and I hope the job market improves soon so that students can find jobs more easily.
Dislikes (Part time work): Student intake is very large. This makes it very competitive to get an on-campus job. There are not many openings compared to the number of students. Emailing professors for TA/RA roles sometimes helps. Off-campus work is illegal on an F1 visa. The pay is pretty good, starting at $20/hour for TAships. The workload isn't too bad.

Great academic opportunities with strong industry connections in Boston.
Tips: Before joining, know that scholarships for international students are limited and focus on co-op opportunities. The transition was smooth, though adjusting to the U.S. culture took time, especially in the diverse academic and social environment. There are no scholarships, but the co-op programme is great for gaining industry experience. Very satisfied with the course, university, and Boston's hub for Biotech opportunities.
Likes (Quality of faculty): High expertise and real-world industry experience. The faculty is highly accessible and approachable encouraging open communication. Emphasis on practical, hands-on learning and case-based teaching. Diverse faculty from various nationalities, offering global perspectives.
Dislikes (Part time work): Many international students are admitted, but on-campus jobs are limited. For F1 visa holders only on-campus is allowed with a maximum of 20hrs/week which is easily manageable alongside academics. The availability of on-campus part-time jobs is often competitive, and students may face difficulties in securing one. For those who find work, the average pay in Massachusetts is 15/hr.

One of a kind experience with great faculty.
Tips: The environment here is contagious as you will meet all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds, countries and experiences who contribute to the campus culture offered here. My major has been challenging and has had significantly challenging material but the professors are incredibly helpful which makes it a little easier. Finally, I would say that the public transport and the city planning stand out and have made things a lot simpler to navigate for students.

It has been an insightful and valuable experience.
Tips: The campus life here is very happening but the classes can be extremely rigorous, hence, finding the right balance between the two is what will determine your college life. There is a lot of diversity and focus on culture which makes the transition easier and there are a number of academic tools that are helpful as well such as peer tutoring and office hours with the professors which can really make a difference academically. The faculty are very understanding and you can approach them freely. I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

Northeastern University has good faculty and curriculum.
Tips: Students should know that they will have to study to get good grades as grades are important to get an internship or a coop. This is beneficial for your full-time offer. The living expenses are high compared to other cities and the fees are also a bit on the expensive side. College life is great because there are a lot of Indian students and the food options are great too. The campus is great with quite a lot of facilities and amenities. Overall, I am satisfied with my experience.
Likes (Public transportation): The city is well connected and has a lot of public transport options going in and out of the city. The MBTA is quite efficient with the timings and all the transport has really good connectivity throughout the city. The tram and bus are good options for people with accessibility.
Dislikes (Part time work): The on-campus jobs are very less in number due to the city being around the whole campus. The number of students coming in at Northeastern is high as this causes a difference in the supply and demand and hence there is a lack of part-time jobs on the campus.

Tips: I like the faculty and study environment here. Life and studies here are very different from what we have lived and studied in India. We have a good campus with all the requirements needed. The University is good, transportation facility is great. A life changing experience.
Tips: There are a lot of students from a varied range of courses so be ready to put in extra effort and always be on your feet. The cost of living in Boston is quite expensive as compared to other cities so budgeting is extremely important. Overall, it'll definitely be a good and life changing experience.
Likes (Public transportation): Campus is very well connected by buses, trains and overall the city is very walkable. There are a lot of beautiful sites to see and travel in Boston and one can travel on foot. The train system is diverse and can sometimes feel overwhelming but one can get used to it.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I cook myself, but there are very few options available outside and everything costs a minimum of 10$. It makes dining out quite expensive so I prefer to cook which gives me more control over the ingredients and nutritious value. There are very few Indian places around campus.

Very limited opportunities for jobs/part-time for International students.
Tips: I didn’t experience anything new as there are too many Indians. I have not availed of any scholarships either. It’s very tough to be in the eye of professors as there are way too many students to compete with. I am not that satisfied with the University's facilities.
Likes (Indian Food): Chipotle - 11$, El Jefe- 11$, Pizza - 2$ a slice, Fries - 3$ in the University.
For Starbucks, there are schemes on weekdays in the University.
Apart from this we have a Postmates app and Door dash too from where we can order food. It gives a lot of discount coupons to students and it’s very beneficial.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are many restrictions to apply for jobs and internships. They have a GPA criteria to be followed. Opportunities for international students are very limited. I am not recommending this university- definitely go to a cheaper one. This university is not worth it.

My perspective is that it's too crowded
Tips: 1. The cultural fit is not challenging as all the students and most of the faculty for Masters are Indians.
2. As far as I know there are no scholarships.
3. Selecting courses and faculty and planning your day and semester is very crucial. Assignments while being heavy can be very beneficial if done independently.
Likes (Public transportation): Trains and buses are available in frequent intervals within proximity all over the city with 2$ minimum fare. Redeye is a free cab service available at the Boston campus from evening 6 to morning 6 within a range of 2 miles from the college library but heavy wait times.
Dislikes (Part time work): 1. Campus is overcrowded with students and there are very limited on-campus jobs.
2. Part-time are manageable and completely depend on the individual and workplace.
3. Average payout is 13-18$
RSO, TA, IA, RA, Marino, SquashBusters, Wollaston's, ITS are few part time jobs to look out for.

Top tier University with highest research excellence.
Tips: To thrive as an international student, it's crucial to adeptly navigate diverse networking opportunities. Foster friendships regardless of nationality, establishing a circle for learning, creating memories, and exploring career prospects. I haven't received a scholarship, as obtaining one is challenging. If you aspire to secure one, expert significant effort. Prior experience in the course is recommended for better understanding and coping with the curriculum. It's crucial to explore the university research and academic profile. About the university, I would say it's a great place for aspiring studies and the courses provided are efficient.
Likes (Student Life): The student body is amiable, and the university offers a plethora of learning resources. The class schedule allows for flexibility, providing students with ample time to explore various facilities on campus The university's primary highlight is the student library, serving as a valuable hub for accessing a wide array of materials to enrich one's knowledge. Additionally, there exist student communities which foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie among students. Frequent events and celebrations are organized for occasions such as Diwali, Holi and more. These gatherings offer students opportunities to meet and network with their peers. Additionally, these events serve as a platform for students to showcase their talents, including dancing, singing and various other skills.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The faculty members are exceptionally approachable and their commitment to assisting students beyond the confines of lecture hours. The professors go the extra mile by making themselves available for doubt solutions even during weekends. Embracing a practical teaching methodology, each professor in my department meticulously prepares presentations for every topic, accompanied by clear and illustrative examples. The diversity within the faculty enriches the learning experience, as we benefit from the varied perspectives of educators hailing from countries such as India, China, Japan, USA and more. The cultural mix not only adds depth to the academic environment but also fosters a global outlook among students.

It's a hole in your pocket so better come determind to make the best use of the time spent here
Tips: I am from Mumbai so I didn't face any major cultural shift however living conditions for students are pretty bad and personally have deteriorated quite a lot. NEU doesn't give any scholarships whatever to international students. If you have US citizenship you can apply to something called FFSA (not sure)
I am just in my first semester so not good not bad experience about the university but if I had the chance to choose college again I would look elsewhere.
Likes (Public transportation): Easily accessible trains. Not so student-friendly though you have to tap or wait for the next train and hope for the back doors to open so you can travel without spending money. But the connectivity to the entire town is good and helpful. It's all about initial adjustments till you get used to it.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are no on-campus jobs for students in comparison to the intake the college has. We usually have to go around begging teachers and store owners for jobs and still might not get anything after one semester. You have a brother-like friend you are blessed else hard luck even on campus. You might get a job but not on campus.

NEU: empowering cybersecurity excellence
Tips: I could get acquainted easily to the weather as I am from Bangalore. Initially we do experience cultural shifts but not difficult to get used to. I haven't availed any scholarships. I am extremely satisfied with the experience. NEU has provided an exceptional learning environment equipped with highly knowledgeable faculty. The course work is comprehensive, challenging and is according to the current industry landscape.
Likes (Value for money): The course curriculum covers all the aspects and concepts of cybersecurity. In comparison to the course curriculum of other colleges with regard to cybersecurity, NEU has one of the best curricullum and faculty. The TA on campus is really beneficial to get the experience of working alongside a professor to impart knowledge to the students.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Due to the current recession scenario, we are unable to find full time opportunities. Many companies who used to offer sponsorship have refrained from doing so since 2023 till the situation becomes better. Hence, international students are finding difficulties in securing a sponsored job.

Northeastern has a lot of good opportunities
Tips: Coming to a new city in a new country might be difficult to adjust at first. But as you meet new people it gets easier and Northeastern has a mentorship program where they help you with all your doubts and questions. You will be assigned a mentor who will happily guide you in your transition to the new country and location.
Northeastern has limited scholarships as far as I know. You can apply for on-campus jobs and try landing one. I am happy to pursue data science degree at Northeastern university.
Likes (Public transportation): Boston has good transportation connectivity, you can take a bus or train from the university to different parts of Boston very easily. There is a train/bus stop/station inside the university which is very convenient during the winter season. It is affordable and there is a monthly/ weekly pass you can take.
Dislikes (Internships): Northeastern has a coop course and multiple resume workshops which help you to build and showcase your profile in the right way. You can always reach out to your coop advisor for suggestions and feedback on your resume. The internships are relevant to your field. You have to search for opportunities and apply. The competition is tough and it depends on your hard work.

Tips: Getting internships and jobs should be the top priority. Apply and study right from the first semester. Many Indian stores are available so no need to get a lot of stuff. The railway transportation system is very good and efficient. There are no scholarships given to students.
Likes (Safety): Boston is a safe place. Rent may be expensive but healthcare and infrastructure in the city are top-notch. Also, many Indian stores and places to visit. No discrimination and many students all across the globe. Students would feel safe in safe neighborhoods.
Dislikes (Part time work): Too many Indian and Chinese students are present so getting a part-time job is very competitive. Part-time work is very manageable and also make sure that you only work on-campus jobs, since in the US no matter what anyone says off campus is off limits or illegal.

Independent growth and learning at the University of New Haven.
Tips: UNH has a vibrant community with a majority of Indian students in the masters programme, along with other countries students. The infrastructure is great, the climate conditions in Connecticut is quite unpredictable, but it's usually on the cooler side.
Likes (Indian Food): We found some good Indian restaurants near by like Roti-Boti and we have a good source to buy Indian groceries from Indian farmers market. Being from India we all miss the taste of our favorite regional food, the taste isn't up to the mark but it will do.
Dislikes (Safety): I have seen incidents all over New Haven. None of them were students but it is always good to be cautious and careful. But most of the places are safe the police is responsive and I have not had a single incident from the beginning. But I want everyone who comes from my home country and anyone here to be safe and sound on the street.

Easy going and friendly city.
Tips: Students coming here should know about the location and accommodation because it's a town. Try to find the schedule of public transportation and the University shuttle. Likes (Indian Food): Indian food is all over the town and some good grocery stores. You can try out American food. Eating outside is the thing that works for me. Turkish and Arab food is worth to taste. Some good malls are there in the town and costs around 15 dollar for a meal.
Dislikes (Part time work): No job opportunities for students in the 1st semester. Academics can be done easily but assignments are quite hectic. 16 dollars per hour on campus, which is manageable. Pocket friendly university. Exceptional faculty members.
Tips: The transition is easy, you will find a lot of like-minded people, especially from India. I received a scholarship of 20% based on my profile. The University is good overall, and very pocket-friendly. Also, the area is less expensive than other famous cities but rich cultural heritage. I am quite satisfied.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The distinguished faculty members at this institution exemplify excellence in their roles as educators. The challenges of teaching are met with unwavering commitment. Guided by exceptional mentors adeptly facilitate learning experiences for students from diverse backgrounds. Also, studying in the United States introduces a unique academic paradigm, and it ensures clarity in the learning process.
Dislikes (Internships): While the University hosts an annual job fair, the current focus tends to be on fields of Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical etc. ), favoring students who do not require sponsorship. I believe universities should actively explore and create additional opportunities tailored to diverse backgrounds. Despite these challenges, I know and appreciate the university's ongoing efforts to achieve a commendable outcome for the overall improvement of students.

If you are planning to study here, it is okay and average.
Tips: Part-time is going to be a great hurdle to overcome. I heard courses like cyber security and Data Science are a bit difficult. Business Analytics was quite easy you just need to follow classes and complete the assignments on time. If you do that, you are guaranteed to get above 3.5.
Likes (Public transportation): During your semester you could pay $40 to get a charge pass in the college. This pass is valid to travel most of the Connecticut CT Transit's. We have a lot of ways to travel to New York through CT Rail. Compared to other states I think CT public transportation is a lot more easier and cheaper.
Dislikes (Part time work): The on-campus job was quite difficult. It's better to start applying for the roles from India so you would get more chances and less competition. There are not many vacancies as there are a lot of International students so the competition was tough.

At University of New Haven make sure you register ASAP to get your desired subjects.
Tips: I didn't see any cultural shift as there are many Indian students in the university and even in the classroom you find more Indian students only. The cultural fest is organized in the college and also Diwali, Holi, and Ganesh Chaturthi are celebrated in the college. There are two types of scholarships available in the university. Full-time students are automatically considered for scholarships and no additional application is required. The two scholarship are:
1. Dean Scholarship - This scholarship can provide up to 50% tuition assistance during enrollment at the university based on your academic merit and review of academic performance.
2. Provost's Assistantship - An experienced learning and work opportunity for the entirety of the graduate programme and an opportunity to work 15-20 hours a week for an academic department and receive 75% of tuition assistance and an hourly wage. The course is good but the university gives prerequisites for the course which we had to take up these courses first. I had done all these prerequisites during my undergrad only and the university webpage states these prerequisites are waivable but even after coming from a computer Science background and studying those subjects in undergrad, I had to take up these prerequisites and it was not waived off and then we have to pay additional for these subjects which cost me additional of 10 Lacs Indian Rupees and we have to spend another semester for this. Also during course registration, the classes get filled very fast and if we miss, we won't get the subject that we want also for a few courses the university says there are no prerequisite courses but at the time of fee payment they say there are prerequisite courses to be taken and will cancel our registered courses, at this time we are left with very fewer options to register for other courses which we won't get it.
Likes (Indian Food): Indian Farmers Market and Bharat Bazar are 2 miles from the university where you get all the Indian Groceries. Also, there are a few Indian restaurants like House of Naan, Tandoor, Cormandal, Star, Star of India, Lazeez, Sharekhan, Baroza, etc. I prefer cooking at home and eating as the cost in restaurants are high.
Dislikes (Internships): There is very minimal guidance from the university on internship opportunities and students have to search for open positions via LinkedIn or the company careers page or through any other job portals website. Even after applying getting an internship is a very difficult process as we hear only one or two responses after applying for more than around 300 positions. There are minimal internship opportunities in the field of cyber security and competition for these positions is high. You have to be highly talented to secure a job and most of the cyber security positions ask for a few cyber security certifications like Comptia + or certified in cybersecurity or CEH for intern positions.

Dislikes (Internships): Very friendly atmosphere. Good faculty support in the overall development of student education and research background. Good team lead skillset is required by students to reach on-campus placement.

The University of New Heaven is among the top universities in the US.
Tips: Students should interact with professors and administration so that they can get the on-campus jobs in the university itself. It's quite easy to get an on-campus job if you have the right skills. You can also get a teaching job which is a very good on campus job.
Likes (Internships): The student life is just amazing here. The university is fun loving. The study and exams are not stressful which is quite easy. Apart form this, students have many more activities to take part in the campus. All the students are friendly who are from different countries.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The faculty of this university are top educators and researchers and they help in every aspect. They teach the concepts very well. There will also be one to one session so that students can get more clarity. The professors of university are research oriented.

M.S in Computer Science - Batch of 2024
Offered by University of New Haven
3.7
University of New Haven is good for education.
Tips: Be careful of pre requisite options and follow professors' feedback provided. Be mindful of the valuable information provided for the course and completing all the responsibilities in the project report.
Likes (Internships): Internship opportunities are good but quite competitive in companies like Amazon and Facebook. Respective subject professors definitely help in internships and give various skills and training.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part- time opportunities are less compared to other universities and the rate of employment compared to India is dependent on various factors of CGPA and knowledge learning. Regular follow up needs to be established with professors to enable hassle free awareness sessions.

This college is not student friendly.
Tips: No part time options available in and around places.
Don't even think of on campus jobs as those are not available.
No housing, you have to travel to other places to get better housing at reasonable prices. Unnecessary prerequisites will be added.
If you still want to join here, join in fall session and not in spring.
Likes (Indian Food): There are two Indian stores in this area where we can get all the groceries.
But they are expensive when compared to neighboring states.
When compared to other states we get almost all Indian food here. Those two stores are one stop solution for all grocery needs.
Dislikes (Value for money): University is not student friendly while opening CPT for students. No deserving faculty as well. Teaching methods are not proper. No one helps you in on campus jobs, those are only for whites.
You wont get US environment here. This is like university of New Hyderabad and not New Haven

The university is stressful but at the same time very supporting.
Tips: If you are considering studying at the University of New Haven, be prepared for a life-changing experience. There will be challenges along the way, but if you work hard, everything will pay off in the end. The syllabus and teaching methods are very different from what you are used to in India. The food is different, and you will have more responsibilities. However, research-oriented courses have a lot of scope.

Best that it has great free gym , library, and lot more
Tips: Less off campus jobs but one can try on campus jobs, be careful of some people as they are always influenced on drugs. Stay safe, stay focused on studies, staff will have on campus jobs for students so be in regular touch for TA , RA etc .
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty are good they are very much supportive and can help you in all the course and even after your course is over. I respect them, in life giving respect and being kind will help to reach great heights in life .
Dislikes (Safety): We cannot go out after 8 at night because most people are under the influence of drugs and they don't know what they are doing, they have guns etc. We can call 911 if anything happens, the cops are really supportive.
