Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing - Batch of 2023

The university helped me find a path to grow myself.
Tips: Students should know that the college believes in a more holistic and all-rounder form of learning as opposed to sticking to a very conventional form of pedagogy. Owing to this, you will experience a very multidimensional environment where you will get the opportunity to explore and experiment as much as you can. The university also provides lots of events and activities so make sure to participate and explore yourself.

Master of Engineering in Computer Engineering - Batch of 2022

Good PhD prospects and research opportunities.
Tips: If a student is planning to do a PhD, I would definitely recommend my school because there are a lot of resourceful professors and they have won various NSF awards. They can be really helpful and can be a great guide. The courses are well structured and the professors are friendly. I just felt like south Indian graduate student enrollment is really less compared to schools on the West Coast. Overall it's a good place to study. I am not sure about the scholarship for Masters but if you are working on research, you will definitely get a scholarship.

BA/BS in Biology - Batch of 2017

Be true to yourself and never give up.
Tips: It is a culture shock so I encourage you to join clubs with people who have similar interests as you. Being with other people will help your time there and you can push each other better to do your very best. Sometimes it can get hard because you might feel like a minority but everyone is very friendly and will help you if you ask. Also, go to career fairs. If you don’t get a job ready for you 3 months before graduation then you did college wrong.
Likes (Part time work): I had a part-time job. I applied on the UVa website for part-time work. It was a great experience. It was nice to work with other college students and have an idea of what working is like in general. My boss was very open-minded with me and I was able to adjust my hours whenever was convenient for me.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): They have many opportunities but you need to be actively looking. Always ask professors for part-time work or if there are teaching assistant positions available. Don’t give up when one says no. It can be hard when you don’t see jobs opening but every day is a new day. so keep looking.

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2023
Offered by Tufts University
4.5
Great academia but comparatively less exposure into the industry
Tips: I did experience a cultural shift. Since Tufts is a private college, most of the students were established in wealth and culture seemed hard to fit in with.
15% scholarship on tuition fee, I availed it when I accepted the offer letter.
I am well satisfied with the course and country.
Likes (Part time work): Many on-campus employment is available. Off-campus jobs are not allowed during coursework. On campus is manageable- either time of your choosing in the morning or the evening after classes or on weekends.
Average pay is 15 dollars per hour ( 20 hr per week limit).
Dislikes (Internships): There are good internship opportunities but fewer company-university relationships. Most intern opps rise through networking with alumni-employees but not through a university-industry relationship. Maybe the university can do more on building hands-on industry exposure through internship programs.
