UK University - Intake Season

Applicants should note that the main intake seasons for universities in the UK are September/October and January/February. Indigenous to the admission process to the UK, students looking to apply for undergraduate studies need to apply through UCAS and postgraduate applicants are required to apply directly to the university.

What is UCAS?

UCAS stands for Universities and Colleges Admission Services (UCAS) and is essentially an interface between students wanting to pursue an undergraduate course of their choice in the UK and the various colleges and universities offering such courses. It is a central organization that deals with all admission related process of the aspirants to study a course of their liking in the UK based higher educational institutes. Students seeking admission to postgraduate programs in the UK will have to apply to individual universities using the application form of that particular university.

Candidates should note that the services offered by UCAS are designed for admission to the September/October intake in the UK and students are required to apply directly to a university for undergraduate courses starting in January or February.

Deadline for UG Admissions in UK

Note: If a student misses the 15 October 2024 date then he can still apply if there is a vacancy at the concerned the university. All they have to do is to ask the university if they have the vacancy and follow their instructions if in case there is any vacancy. In most cases, due to high competition for each seat in the courses at UK universities, it is very unlikely to get a vacancy.

Deadline for PG Admissions in UK 

There is no formal deadline for postgraduate courses in the UK. For most postgraduate courses starting September-October, you will be required to apply by the months of June or July. Some of the popular courses like Data Analytics, International Business, and top-ranked universities or high demand universities like the University of Bristol, University of Leeds, University of Manchester, Queen's University Belfast (QUB), and the University of Greenwich close their admission for popular courses between December 2024 to January 2025 for Fall 2025 intake.

Q:   Does the University of Essex require IELTS?

A:

International students whose native language is not English must meet the University of Essex English language requirements to get admission. The university accepts IELTS scores as proof of English language proficiency. Mentioned below are the IELTS scores required for UG and PG admission at the university:
