Nonimmigrant US visa holders, like students holding any of these visas like an F-1 visa, or an M-1 visa or J-1 visa or others, except for a B visa are eligible.
Also, those whose visas are expiring and are applying for it within 48 months of their most recent nonimmigrant visa’s expiration date are eligible for Dropbox.
Once students submit their visa applications to the Embassy, they may automatically be eligible for Dropbox in the USA. Additionally, students will be eligible for an interview waiver, if they also meet the following criteria and they are:
- Applying within their country of nationality or residence.
- Have never been refused a visa before (unless refusal was overcome by the applicant or waived after fulfilling additional formalities).

Dropbox Procedure for US Visa
Here’s the procedure for Dropbox for US visas for those renewing their visas:
- Fill out your DS-160 Form, then create an online profile in the U.S. Visa Information Service based on your country.
- Applicants will be asked questions to determine their eligibility for the interview waiver.
- Based on the responses to the questions in the yes/no format you can either qualify or not qualify. If you do, you will receive a “Dropbox Confirmation Letter”.
- Students will not be called for an in-person interview, in turn, they will be required to submit all necessary documentation at a specified Dropbox location.
- After reviewing your application, consular officers will send your passport stamped if it's approved, or without any stamp if the application has been rejected.
