The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is one of the most widely recognised English language tests that is accepted in over 13,000+ universities across countries worldwide. There is no particular TOEFL cutoff score to qualify the test, as there is no pass or fail. The TOEFL cut off is the minimum TOEFL score requirement for their university application. Candidates also note that getting the minimimum TOEFL cutoff does not guarantee admission. In this article, we are going to be discussing the various TOEFL cut off for the top universities across the world.

Top universities in US like MIT, Harvard, Stanford requires a TOEFL iBT score of 90-110+. While, top UK universities requires a TOEFL iBT score of 90-110+. Candidates are required to register for the TOEFL exam and pick an exam date at least 2-3 months before their university's admission deadlines. This wil also give them the time apply for visa and/or look for other options if their application is not shortlisted.

What is a good TOEFL score?

There are no good or bad scores when appearing for the TOEFL test. Candidates would be required to qualify for the TOEFL cut off decided by the universities. Anything above the TOEFL cut off would increase their chances of getting admission into the university and any score below the TOEFL cut off would require the candidate to retake the TOEFL exam.

From the university table above, you can conclude that a good TOEFL score out of 120 would be any score over 100 as this would not only qualify you to apply to most universities abroad but also make you eligible to apply to Tier I universities abroad. An average TOEFL score would be any score between 90 - 100, as this would make you eligible to apply to most universities but not necessarily the Tier I universities.

However, to make your test experience more personal and for you to understand your score better ETS has provided 4 to 5 proficiency levels for each skill. So where your score falls within that range tells you your proficiency for that skill. This will give you a fair idea about your performance, your strengths, sections that need improvement, and so on. How to access TOEFL Scores 2024?

Candidates should note that unofficial scores of the Reading and Listening sections are available to the candidates immediately after completing the test. However, the official TOEFL scores or TOEFL results are taken at the test centre and are available to candidates approximately six days after the test. Candidates who opt for the TOEFL at Home version of the test will get their scores in six to ten days' time.

Viewing your TOEFL scores has never been easier. Around six days after your test date, you will receive an e-mail informing you that your score result is available. All you have to do is log in to your TOEFL account on the website and click ‘view scores’ to see your scores. As mentioned earlier, the official TOEFL iBT score will be made available to you approximately six days from the test date and test-takers who opt for the Special Home Edition of the TOEFL test will receive their results in 6-10 days from the test date.

When will TOEFL Official Score Reports be available?

If the candidate has requested a paper copy of their score report before appearing for the test, it would be mailed within 11 days after the test date. Delivery times will be subject to local postal services. Your TOEFL scores will be valid for two years. Candidates can always download and print a PDF copy of their score from their ETS account. PDF score reports are ready for download within eight days after taking the test.

What is the validity of TOEFL scores?

TOEFL Score Validity: Your TOEFL scores are valid for two years after the declaration of your result. If you are not satisfied with the scores on your first attempt, you can try again as there is no limitation on the number of retakes. However, there must be at least a three-day gap between your retakes; i.e if you have a test appointment for today, you cannot register for another appointment for the next three days.

What is TOEFL MyBest scores?

TOEFL MyBest scores also referred to as TOEFL superscores are a way to showcase your best overall performance by combining your highest section scores from all test dates within the last two years. This can help you to achieve your goals sooner since it means you may be able to meet score requirements for your institution with fewer tests.

Hello Nikhil. Hope you are doing well. I seem to have overlooked your comment and my apologies for the same. I am guessing you have got your results by now. Reading the question out loud should not ideally affect your TOEFL test scores.
