Germany BTech Fees for Indian Students

Public universities in Germany do not require students to pay tuition fees, however, they are required to pay a semester fee, ranging from EUR 150 - EUR 300 at the start of every year. The cost of BTech in Germany for Indian students across private universities starts at EUR 9,000 or INR 8.17 L (1 EUR = INR 90.80) and can go up to EUR 13,000 or INR 11.80 L (1 EUR = INR 90.80) for a year.

Cost of Living in Germany: Candidates looking to live in Germany are required to open a Blocked Account. The Blocked Account has the required living expenses for a student. This amount is decided by the government in Germany. As of Jan 01, 2021, keeping the rate of inflation in mind, the mandatory amount required in the Block Account for studying in Germany is EUR 10,332 for an entire year or EUR 861 for a month.

German Study Visa

Candidates going to study in Germany would require a German Student Visa for their entire duration of stay. The student visa would also allow students access to part-time work for 20 hours a week for the entire duration of the study or 120 full or 240 half days per year. Candidates should note that on completion of their study, they would be allowed an eighteen-month (18 months) post-study period to find employment in their field of study. Students will have to pay around EUR 110 as a visa application fee, which is INR 9,988.44 (1 EUR = INR 90.80). Generally, the processing time for a Residence Permit visa is 3 months (8 to 12 weeks).

Work Permit after BTech in Germany

Students who have completed their BTech in Germany are eligible to work in Germany after their studies. International students can work for up to 18 months as part of their post-study work permit in Germany. This extended period of 18 months is called a post-study work permit in Germany. During these 18 months, candidates can work on their initiative and take on any type of work to support themselves. However, if a student wants to permanently stay in Germany, he or she can apply for an ‘EU Blue Card’ - Residence Permit as early as two years after receiving their work visa.
