KIT Germany Admissions 2025: Application Deadline, Requirements & Costs

The language of instruction of MSc in Computer Science is German. KIT admissions requirements for the MSc in Computer Science course are given below:

• A passed bachelor’s degree or at least an equivalent degree in the bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science or degree programme with essentially the same content at a university, technical college or vocational academy or dual university at a foreign university. Also, note that the concerned course must have been completed over a standard period of study of at least 3 years with a minimum of 180 ECTS points

Minimum achievements in the following areas are required:

• Theoretical Computer Science – 15 credit points
• Practical Computer Science – 30 credit points
• Technical Computer Science – 8 credit points
• Mathematics – 25 credit points

Also, international students need to show knowledge of the German language. For the application, a B1 level of knowledge is required. At the time of enrolment, the applicants can submit a DSH2 certificate or an accepted equivalent thereof

In the case of a bachelor’s degree, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology takes 3 weeks to process the applications, whereas, in the case of master’s degree, 4-5 weeks is the processing time. The applications can be submitted online at KIT’s official website. The applicants are going to receive the outcome of their application via email. After this, log into to the portal and download the notice from there. In case, the applicants have received the admission letter, the applicants are required to then accept a study place in the application portal.

As per Article 3 LHGebG (Baden-Württemberg Act on State University Fees), international students from third-countries / Non-EU countries attending bachelor’s, teacher’s, and consecutive master’s programs and free movers will have to pay the tuition fee of amount EUR 1,500 per semester. The documents required for Karlsruhe Institute of Technology admissions are:

Bachelor’s Degree

• School-leaving certificate in the original language
• Official translation of the school-leaving certificate (German and English translations are allowed)
• Country-specific additional documents
• Proof of German skills: Proof of B1 through the confirmation of participation in the B1 course

Master’s Degree

• Bachelor’s degree certificate in the official language and official translation
• Academic transcripts of records / exam results in the official language and official translation
• Internship certificates (For some of the master’s courses)
• Proof of language skills
• Additional documents such as letter of recommendation, motivation letter (As applicable)

• Then, submit the application to International Students Office (IStO) as per the deadline
• After this, the application is processed by IStO
• Next, the confirmation of admission takes place, which includes DSH and Admission Test for German classes / preparatory college and enrollment at KIT (if direct admission) for higher education studies

Master’s Degree Courses

• Firstly, fill out the KIT online application
• Then, submit the application to International Students Office (IStO) according the application deadline
• After the submission of the application, it is processed by IStO
• Processing of application by the Departmental Commission is also done
• Next, the confirmation of admission happens. This includes enrollment at KIT (if direct admission) for higher education studies
