Eligibility & Documents Required
What are the eligibility requirements?
The University of Bonn has set some standard eligibility requirements for international students based on their performance and academic excellence. Students must have a high school degree to apply for UG programmes and a UG diploma or degree for the PG programme. Students must be 18 years of age at the time of admission.
The eligibility requirements for undergraduate and graduate students are:
- For Undergraduate Students – The undergraduate students must have German language proficiency as the primary language requirements. The students must have a B1 German level of proficiency.
- For Graduate Students – The minimum level of language proficiency required for graduate students is B2 English level of proficiency.
- Indian Students – Pre-University Examination with a minimum of 50%; secondary school leaving certificate (after 12 classes) with a minimum of 50%
Students might have to submit other official language certificates such as TOEFL, IELTS, SAT (for UG programme), GMAT (for PG programme), PTE, and DET with no minimum score limit.
- TOEFL paper-based: 550 points
- TOEFL computer-based: 213 points
- TOEFL internet-based: 80 points
- IELTS: 6.0 (we only accept the academic IELTS!)

Application & Tuition Fees
Is there any application fees?
No, there is no application fee at the University of Bonn. Students can apply for undergraduate, graduate, or any doctorate programmes with no application fee. For more information on admission and costs, students can refer to the university's admission webpage.
What is the fee structure of the different courses available at the university?
There is no tuition fee for undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Bonn. In 2014, 16 of Germany's states abolished admission fees for national and international students. So there is no admission fee currently.
Students can study at the University of Bonn for free. However, there is a minor administration cost to cover the university’s charges, i.e., EUR 300 per semester, chargeable from both undergraduate and graduate students.

The University of Bonn offers several scholarships based on merit. Scholarships are awarded to students with high academic and personal qualifications. The majority of scholarships require German language proficiency.

Students will have to consult with their study abroad coordinator from their home university to apply for undergraduate degree programmes.
