Over the past five years, more than 1 million Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) exams have been taken by candidates interested in pursuing an MBA degree. GMAT exam is accepted across more than 110 countries and by more than 2,400 B-Schools. In the Testing Year 2022 (TY 2022), 124,112 GMAT exams were taken by the candidates. Moreover, as per the official GMAT website, 9 out of 10 MBA admissions happen with the help of GMAT Scores.
GMAT Pattern
The GMAT exam pattern for the GMAT Focus Edition is significantly different from the GMAT Current Edition. In 2023, GMAC plans to release the GMAT Focus Edition. The existing GMAT test will also remain accessible until at least early 2024. A change in the exam format will result in a change in the GMAT syllabus. The GMAT Focus Edition syllabus is very different from the standard GMAT syllabus since a new GMAT subject called Data Insights has been included while several GMAT topics have been eliminated.
GMAT Current Edition
The Current Edition of the GMAT exam contains four sections: Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning. The following table provides the GMAT exam pattern for the Current Edition:

GMAT Focus Edition
The GMAT Focus Edition's syllabus is distinct from the GMAT's current syllabus. SC (Sentence Correction) and AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment) have been eliminated. Additionally, a brand-new section called Data Insights (DI), based on IR (Integrated Reasoning), has been introduced and will also include DS (Data Sufficiency).
