Mohammad Abdul Arfath's family had lost contact with him since March 7, 2024, later in April, he was found dead in Ohio. He was 11th in a series of deaths of Indian students that occurred in the USA this year so far. The family had urged the government to bring back at least the body of Mohammed Abdul Arfath safely to India.

Indian students death in US: After more than a month, the mortal remains of the Indian student Mohammed Abdul Arfath, who was found dead in the US earlier this month, arrived at his residence in Hyderabad.

The student had gone to the US to pursue a master's degree in Information Technology at Cleveland University, Ohio. He had been missing since March 7, 2024, his parents had also received a ransom call demanding nearly a lakh rupees. Later, in April, he was found dead in Ohio. His body was reportedly found in water.

While speaking to the media a few days ago, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “Obviously, in every case, wherever anything unfortunate has happened to the students, it is of great tragedy for the family, and a big concern for us but…our embassy or consulate has looked at every case and they’re actually unconnected," as reported by News 18.







MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Since January there are some ten-odd students who have passed away. Our consulates and mission in the US, have strengthened our student outreach that they convey to the students how they can take care of themselves and what should be done."
