Study in US: Katrina Armstrong Interim President of Columbia University has written to the Columbia community to reaffirm the university's mission and to set out priorities for this academic year.

In a letter to the Columbia community, Katrina Armstrong Interim President said that she will be sharing the several priorities set for this academic year over the final weeks of the semester.

"We will be sharing updates on these priorities, reflecting on the progress, challenges, and road ahead," she writes in the letter.

Columbia University Aims To Strengthen Students And Faculty Connections

She said she is inspired by how alumni say that the university changed their life trajectory for the better and many faculty stay at Columbia because of their students she wants this commitment to be deepened by asking the community how to improve on students' resources, provide environment inside and outside the classroom which will help students to grow and strengthen the connections between faculty and students.

"We must listen to each other, remain open to ideas that challenge fixed ideologies and ourselves, and preserve the open intellectual discourse and rigorous research that define what Columbia means to the City, the nation, and the world. I have every confidence that we have the will, the ability, and the strength to fulfil this commitment," added her letter.

Columbia University: Dean of Mailman School of Public Health Steps Down

Katrina Armstrong has announced that Linda P. Fried, MD, MPH Dean of the Mailman School of Public Health has decided to step down at the end of the academic year after serving in this role for 16 years. She is also the Vice President of Columbia University Irving Medical Center.








"More than half of Columbia Mailman’s 250 full-time faculty were recruited during Linda’s tenure, producing a new generation of public health scholars at Columbia. With support from the Board of Advisors, the School’s endowment has almost tripled and has supported the creation of 17 new endowed chairs under Linda’s leadership," stated Katrina Armstrong.







There were many groundbreaking initiatives during her tenure including the TRAILS AI Lab, the interdisciplinary program on Climate Change and Health, the Center on Innovative Exposomics, the Brody Center for Population Mental Health, and the Butler Columbia Aging Center.
