The award was given to the individuals who demonstrated long-term dedication to the success of the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition (OCMC).

Conestoga College: School Of Business Faculty Member Gets Award Of Excellence

Study in Canada: Dea Watson, the School of Business faculty member at Conestoga College, was honoured with a Faculty Award of Excellence. The award was granted at the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition (OCMC). She has been coaching students for more than 24 years for OCMC.

Faculty Award of Excellence is given to the faculties for showing long-term dedication to the success of OCMC through collaboration, positivity and a high level of professionalism and also who are highly committed to the student success.

Jennifer White, professor, at the School of Business said, “Dea has dedicated countless hours to coaching her teams and generously lending her expertise to others, embodying the spirit of collaboration. And her impact doesn’t end when the competition does. She remains a mentor, guiding her students long after they leave the program."

While commenting on the award, Dea Watson said, "I am deeply humbled and honoured. This recognition reflects the incredible students, colleagues and college community who inspire me every day. Thank you to my Conestoga colleagues for nominating me for this meaningful honour. It’s a privilege to work alongside such talented and supportive individuals.”








Conestoga College At Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition Details

This year OCMC put the students in the following competition - Direct Marketing: Ethan Lawson & Paisley Gales-Cousens, Sales Presentation: Lissy Dennis, Integrated Marketing Communications: Ethan Lawson & Paisley Gales-Cousens, Retail Marketing: Dana Orr & Thea Fenn, Prospect Pitch: Andrew Spironello & Zach Phillips, and Job Interview: Ryan Gombocz.







Conestoga’s student team included Caden Willig, Manjot Mann, Jared Bickers, Giovanna Freitas, Sandy Mokhtar-Maleki, Vladimir Cordas, Jax Grover, Coleen Matulac, Carolina Moreno Hernandez, and Jes Recidoro.

"Our marketing students have worked tirelessly over the last several months preparing for this competition, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they have accomplished. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible faculty coaches, who selflessly devote their time to mentoring these competitors and building their skills. Your guidance and dedication are truly invaluable," added White.

Conestoga Team Looks Forward To Hosting 2025 OCMC

School of Business chair - Jamie Wiebe said that the team is looking forward to hosting the 2025 OCMC.

“Hosting is an honour that students, faculty and staff are highly anticipating and builds on the college’s history of commitment and performance at the event, having previously captured gold as well as several top-three finishes over several decades of competition. I want to especially acknowledge and thank Jennifer White who is exceptional at organizing this event each year for the Conestoga team and will be taking on the massive role of leading us into 2025 when we host,” said Wiebe.
