Study in US: Dharmendra Pradhan has discussed with the delegation from Johns Hopkins University USA regarding academic and research collaboration opportunities with the Indian institutes.

Study Abroad: Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met a high-level delegation from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) USA. The delegation was led by Ronald J. Daniels, President of Johns Hopkins University. The delegation also included members from the Gupta Klinsky India Institute (GKII) which is an internal unit of JHU.

The delegation discussed the partnership opportunities between JHU and Indian partners related to education, research, practice and policy. The discussion focused on strengthening the research and academic collaborations between the Indian premier Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and JHU. The delegation and Dharmendra Pradhan also discussed setting up an offshore JHU campus in India.

"Prominent Indian-origin faculty from JHU, such as Mathuram Santosham, Professor of Paediatrics and International Health, and Chirag Parikh, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Division of Nephrology, also participated. The delegation further included GKII officials and members of its advisory board, including Raj and Kamla Gupta, Deepak Raj, Kunal Pal, and Neetisha Besra," reads the government statement on the delegation visit.

Details Of Johns Hopkins University Delegation Discussing Collaboration In India

The delegation has 12 members including distinguished administrators and academicians from JHU including Alexander Triantis, Dean of the Carey Business School; Fritz W. Schroeder, Senior Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations; Sridevi Sarma, Vice Dean of Graduate Education at the Whiting School of Engineering; Judd Walson, Chair of the Department of International Health at the Bloomberg School; Amita Gupta, Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins University and Co-Founder of the Gupta-Klinsky India Institute (GKII); and Jon Goldstein, Senior Associate Director of Development for International Programs.








While talking to the delegation, Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted how the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) provided transformative opportunities for academic collaborations with universities abroad and to strengthen the Indian education sector. The education minister also appreciated JHU's commitment towards contributing to the global exchange of knowledge through joint degree and dual programs, building robust alliances with the Indian HEIs, and research collaboration in emerging fields including artificial intelligence, data science, and futuristic technologies and two-way mobility of faculty and students.







"The visit by Mr. Daniels and the delegation highlights the growing significance of India-US educational cooperation. As part of their multi-city tour of India, the delegation will visit various Indian university campuses and engage with key government officials, academic leaders, and embassy representatives to strengthen JHU’s operations in India and advance the internationalisation efforts," added the government statement.
