English Language Assistants Programme 2024-2025: Know Eligibility details to teach English in France

Under the English Language Assistants Programme 2024-2025, more than 200 Indian Language Assistants are moving to France to teach English in schools.

Study in France: The Embassy of France in India, the French Ministry of National Education, and the Institut Français India (IFI) jointly announced that 206 Indian Language Assistants will be travelling under English Language Assistants Programme 2024-2025 to France to teach English in primary and secondary schools for the academic year 2024-2025. These Assistants will depart on September 26 and September 27, 2024.

These young individuals will get to spend 7 months in France and get the opportunity to immerse themselves in French culture and language. They will be there from October to April and assist English teachers in the French public schools. It will help them in developing their understanding and proficiency in the French way of life.

While talking during a pre-departure session organized for these Indians, Mr. Grégor TRUMEL, Director of IFI and Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs at the Embassy of France in New Delhi said, “The language assistant program brings our two countries closer together. Language assistants are privileged ambassadors of Indian culture in France and of French culture in India. By working in the French education system with French youth, they play a strategic role in intercultural reinforcement, the key to excellent bilateral Franco-Indian relations.”

About English Language Assistants Programme 2024-2025

This programme offers an excellent opportunity for young Indian graduates to gain cultural exposure and invaluable experience in a global environment.

Apart from the 2026 outgoing Assistants, there are 61 returning assistants whose contracts were renewed with the French Ministry of Education.








These assistants going to France will be called "academies," and will be working across various educational departments in France.

The following are the eligibility criteria for the program:

  • There are English language requirements. The applicants should have a score of a minimum of 7.5 in IELTS.
  • Must have completed B.A. in French or B1 level in French.
  • They should be an Indian who are enrolled in a university or Alliance Française in India.
  • Must be under the age of 35 years as of October 1, 2024, and hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates in their third year of study can also apply.
