External Affairs Minister Dr Jaishankar Inaugurates Symbiosis Campus In Dubai
The inauguration of Symbiosis International University’s first overseas campus at Dubai Knowledge Park marked a significant step in Indo-UAE relations.
Study Abroad: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar inaugurated Symbiosis International University’s first overseas campus at Dubai Knowledge Park.
In a statement, Dr. S. Jaishankar said that the new campus will offer programs in Technology, Management, and Media and Communications. He hoped that the university would replicate its excellent quality of teaching and pedagogy on the Dubai campus too to prepare the students for a bright career.
"Today’s ceremony is not just an inauguration of a new campus; it is a celebration of the growing educational cooperation between our two countries. Right now, Indian curriculum and learning are being imparted through more than 100 International Indian Schools in UAE benefitting more than 300,000 students. India’s Central Board of Secondary Education, National Institute of Open Studies and Institute of Chartered Accountants are also providing institutional and student certifications in UAE. With the inauguration of the Campus, Symbiosis International University will set a new benchmark in terms of Indian college education here," he said.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE’s Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence also attended the event. While speaking during the inauguration, he said, “The world today requires individuals who are not only well-educated but who also appreciate the importance of a culture rooted in knowledge, progress, and mutual respect. In this spirit, education is an essential tool for fostering understanding and stability. It is imperative that, in our pursuit of knowledge, we also uphold the values of justice, tolerance, and peace,” as reported by DD News.
India-UAE Ties Reach New Milestone
He said that the relationship between the two countries has reached a new era as the trade and investment levels between both countries reached new levels and the levels are increasing with every passing year. He also talked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit in 2015 when the economic partnership agreement was negotiated.
"A University setting up a campus abroad is not just a bold step, but a concrete commitment to the goal of a globalizing India. They certainly render an educational service, but even more, connect us to the world by strengthening our living bridges. And that, dear students, means all of you. Today’s youth has extraordinary opportunities, and along with it, formidable challenges. You have access to technology and an exposure to the world that we could not have conceived of, even a decade ago," he added.
"India today needs to prepare for the global workplace. Equally, it has to be ready for the era of AI, chips, electric mobility, clean and green technologies, renewable energy, space and drones. It also has to manage the growth of these possibilities, by making them employment-centric and market viable. And while doing so, it has to continuously communicate – amongst ourselves and to the world – the benefits of our contemporary direction to society. Your education can ready you for all these tasks; in fact, they are different dimensions of an integral whole," added Dr. S. Jaishankar.
