Study in UK: Every year, five Rhodes Scholarships at Oxford University are available for Indian students. The Rhodes Trust has announced the five Indian recipients of the prestigious scholarship in 2025. These Indian scholars are selected through a competitive application process and two interview rounds.

While announcing the ‘extraordinary 2025 Class of Rhodes Scholars Elect’, Dr Elizabeth Kiss, CEO of the Rhodes Trust said, “We eagerly anticipate the invaluable contributions these Scholars will make, not just during their studies, but throughout their lives as they join the community of Rhodes Scholar alumni who are creating a more equitable and sustainable future for the world," as reported by Hindustan Times.

"It is heartening to see candidates from diverse disciplines, institutions, and parts of the country apply to the Rhodes Scholarship. We are always impressed by the level of intellect as well as the character and empathy that they all display," said the Rhodes India Secretariat.

Rhodes Scholarships 2025 Indian Recipients Details

These selected scholars will undertake fully funded post-graduate studies at Oxford University and will join a cohort of hundreds of scholars from across the globe.

These Indian scholars include Avanish Vats from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi interested in studying epistemological injustice, Vibha Swaminathan a law student at National Law School, Bangalore committed to citizenship rights,  Pal Aggarwal, an aspiring astrophysicist from IIT-Bombay, a literature major student from Jawaharlal Nehru University Rayan Chakrabarti interested in pursuing museum anthropology, and Shubham Narwal from ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute who is a veterinarian dedicated to conservation.








“As is the case each year, we had a diverse and talented field of applicants. We are very grateful to all the selectors who assisted us through a rigorous selection process and very proud of the five Rhodes Scholars-Elect who have emerged from the process. They will benefit from the rich intellectual resources of the University of Oxford, and will join a lifelong community determined to change the world for the better," added Rhodes India Secretariat.







Applications for the 2026 Rhodes Scholarship will open in June 2025.

"The Rhodes Scholarship is a life-changing opportunity to join outstanding young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. Applications for the 2025 Rhodes Scholarships are now closed, applications will re-open in June 2025 for the 2026 cycle," reads the official statement.
