Study Abroad: ECE France has campuses in four different cities including Lyon, Paris, Bordeaux and Rennes. Both its bachelor's and master's programs are quite popular among international students. It offers various minors and majors. The majors include options in quantitative finance, health and technology, energy and environment and aeronautics and robotics. There are many bachelor courses in data, cybersecurity and software development. Shiksha spoke with Antoine Fortune, Director Development of ECE Engineering School based in Paris about how it is to study in their school for international students.

In France, There Is No Problem of Student Placement: Antoine Fortune, ECE Paris

Q: which are the most popular courses in your engineering school?

A: The most popular courses, there are two. The first one is a bachelor program, a year's program in Paris and the second one is all the MSc programs, Master of Science, we got five MSc programs, all in English and these are two-year programs.

Q: What are the admission requirements for international students, especially Indian students?

For international students, especially Indians, there is no special thing about that. For our school, they have to fill out an international admission form with all their data, marks and recommendation letters. After that, there will be an interview.

Q: So what is the marks requirement?

A: We don't have any marks requirement because we will see the marks, but also the motivation for the courses.

Q: Is there any French language requirement?

A: No, because all the programs offered at ECE Engineering School are totally in English.

Q: What are the scholarship and grant opportunities for international students?

A: Yes, it could be a scholarship, but generally the first step is with Campus France,  because Campus France gave 500 scholarships last year for Indian students and after Campus France, the students were going to study with their own scholarships.

Q: These are government scholarships or given by the engineering school?

A: No, no, school. These are provided by the school.

Q: Can students work part-time while studying at your engineering college?

A: Yes, this is four four-day programs and one day they can work in Paris.

Q: What student support do you provide to international students like mentoring and counselling?

A: Yes, we have an international student welcome centre. We can help them during all their student life. So with accommodation problems or bank account problems, and administrative solutions, there is an international welcome centre to handle all these.

Q: And cultural mingling like culturally to make them interact with the French students and all?

A: Yes, we have 60 nationalities on our campus, so it's a very international campus.

Q: What about the placement opportunities?

A: Yes, in France there is no problem with placement because we need engineers. We need in France 45,000 engineers and France has 30,000 diplomas only in engineering. So there is no problem with placements.

Q: What is the percentage of placement, do all get placed?

A: Yes, all one and they will have a job offer before their diploma.

Q: What is the safety and security in France, especially in your engineering school? Is it very safe?

A: Yes, it's very safe, it's a closed campus. No one can enter this campus without a student card. There are guards everywhere, no problem.

Q: Currently how many Indian students do you have in your engineering school? If you can give us a rough idea.

A: Yes, in Paris we have about 5,000 students.

Q: One last question is, what is the approximate fee requirement and overall living cost?

A: The tuition fee for a bachelor is 8,000 euros per year. For the MSc program, it's 12,000 euros per year. To live in Paris you need between 800 and 1,000 euros per month including accommodation and food.
