The recipients are from the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. One of these four awardees includes Abhinav Jha, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the McKelvey School of Engineering and of Radiology at MIR.

This award is to recognize the exceptional contributions of individuals to medical imaging. At the Precision Radiotheranostics Translation Center, he is the principal investigator. Abhinav Jha's research focuses on developing novel physics and artificial intelligence-based methods for image enhancement, image reconstruction, task-based image-quality evaluation, and image analysis.

Other awardees include Adam T. Eggebrecht, PhD, associate professor of radiology in the Biophotonics Research Center, Manu S. Goyal, MD, an associate professor of radiology in the neuroradiology section and principal investigator in the Neuroimaging Labs Research Center, and Daniel L.J. Five WashU Faculty Gets Grants For Innovative Cancer Research

Five faculty at Washington University in St. Louis got the inaugural ACS-Yosemite research grants from venture capital firm Yosemite and the American Cancer Society (ACS). Each scholar has received $330,000.

"Cory Berkland, the Mark and Becky Ruhmann Levin Professor in the McKelvey School of Engineering and a professor of chemistry in Arts & Sciences, will focus on a new cancer immunotherapy that seeks to recruit immune cells to tumor tissue and works synergistically with checkpoint inhibitors, which “release the brakes” of the immune system. He will further develop an engineered variant of the cytokine GM-CSF that is designed to “stick” in tumor tissue to alleviate immune-related adverse events and strengthen immune activity," says the official statement.
