Indian, Spanish Universities Ink Agreement for International Collaboration

To encourage joint research projects and student and faculty exchange programs, the delegation of Indian universities met with the representatives of Spanish universities.

India and Spain are networking in the education sector for possible educational tie-ups. In line with this, a delegation of Indian universities comprising 26 Vice Chancellors met with their Spanish counterparts.

During the meeting, an agreement was signed for the possible joint research projects and exchange of students and faculties.

Dr. Pankaj Mittal, secretary general, AIU said, “On the first day of the visit, the delegates visited The Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Barcelona and exchanged ideas in collaboration with many Spanish Universities who were invited for the interaction. The one-to-one meetings between the universities from India and Spain was very fruitful," as reported by The Pie News.

The signing of the agreement took place at one of the oldest universities in Spain - the University of Valladolid.

“New strides in educational partnership! Historic agreement signed between @CrueUniversidad and @AIUIndia for cooperation between universities of India and Spain. Will create new opportunities for Indian students!” said a statement by the Embassy of India in Spain on X.

The delegation of Vice-Chancellors of Indian universities from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) was received by the Mayor of Valladolid D.Jesus Julio Carnero.

While calling the event "very successful", Mittal said, “The Mayor of Valladolid received the delegation at Valladolid. Many MoUs between the Indian and Spanish Universities are on the verge of signing."








University of Valladolid formed part of the great intellectual movement

The university has historic significance as it along with Lerida, Palencia, and Salamanca formed part of the great intellectual movement during 12th and 13th centuries. It has four campuses located in Palencia, Segovia, Valladolid and Soria.







The surrounding area of the Valladolid is well known for the purest form of spoken Spanish. This place been the origin of many poets and writers including José Zorrilla, Rosa Chacel, Gaspar Núñez de Arce, Miguel de Cervantes, and Miguel Delibes.

The university has an International Welcome Point for delegations coming from international institutes.
