Indian student missing in US, Police seek public's help
Adding to the fear of the Indian student community in the USA, one more student, Nitheesha Kandula, has gone missing in California since last week.
Another Indian student goes missing in the US. Nitheesha Kandula has been missing in California since May 28, 2024. The police have sought the public's help in finding her.
According to police, she is a student of California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). She is 23 years old and was last seen in Los Angeles and reported missing on May 30, 2024.
She was possibly driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla, the colour is unknown. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall, and around 160 pounds (72.5 kgs) in weight with black hair and black eyes, according to the police statement.
Police issued a missing person alert. John Guttierez, Chief of Police, CSUSB, said in a post on X on Sunday, ""#MissingPersonAlert: California State University, San Bernardino Police along with our partners in #LAPD, is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of @CSUSBNews Nitheesha Kandula, to contact us at: (909) 537-5165."
"If any agency or person has information on the whereabouts of the missing person, please contact the LAPD Southwest Division at 213-485-2582 or the CSUSB Police Department at 909-537-7777," said the police statement.
A string of such cases haunts Indian Community in US
This year has been extremely tragic for the Indian student community in the USA. While the country is among the top choices of Indian students seeking to study abroad, this year many Indian students met with a tragic and mysterious death in the US. A dozen of Indian students have already died in the US this year. Earlier also, Mohammed Abdul Arfath, a Hyderabad student was missing for some time in March and later found dead in April.
A Boston University student, Paruchuri Abhijit, was found dead in his car. Mr Uma Satya Sai Gadde, an Indian student in Cleveland, Ohio died in mysterious circumstances. The student died in a car tragic accident. Recently, Guntipalli Sowmya, a Telangana student was killed in a fatal road accident in Florida, US.

"Request to Our Telangana Government @revanth_anumula @TelanganaCMO @Bhatti_Mallu California state university, san Bernardino, Indian master student Nitheesha Kandula is Missing from last Friday Not in contact with anyone since last Friday night (US time)," reads a message on X platform.
"Nitheesha Friends they tried multiple times to reach out but couldn’t reach her . If anyone is around this location it would be helpful if you can try to support her Nitheesha lost her parents she was from Hyderabad, her grand parents and taking care of Nitheesha. Please we are requesting to our government reach out they family immediately and also Indian embassy Send some instructions our IOC team and to Telangana forums which were in USA," added the message on X.
