Study in US: During Michigan State University’s fall semester beginning ceremonies from December 13 to December 14, 2024, influential and accomplished leaders will join the university in celebrating over 4,000 Spartan graduates' achievements.

MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D. commented, "It’s a pleasure to recognize our graduates for their accomplishments at Michigan State as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives. They go forth well prepared for the careers in front of them and for lives of engagement and purpose, while carrying fond lifelong memories of their Spartan student experience.”

The event will see students conferring with master's, doctoral and educational specialist degrees.

MSU Researchers Reprogram Immune Cells For Successful Medical Implants

The researchers at MSU found that the use of a drug helps the body to be more receptive towards the medical implants including replacement joints, pacemakers, and dental implants. The drug is a metabolic inhibitor.

Ashley Makela, senior research associate at the MSU Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering in the College of Engineering said, “When we surgically place an implant into a human, there will always be an immune response and there’s a chance the implant will be rejected. Our research sought to find novel ways to stop that rejection.”

“Our findings have significant implications for improving patient recovery times, reducing postsurgical complications like chronic inflammation and implant rejection and potentially saving costs. And they may eventually affect the way medical device manufacturers and pharmaceutical scientists approach medical implants," said Makela.

MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education To Be Renamed

Michigan State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources enters into a gift agreement with the Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies. The MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education will now be renamed the Farm Bureau Pavilion.

“We consider this facility to be MSU’s Breslin Center for agriculture. Michigan’s agricultural community walks through those doors, and it’s appropriate that the name over the doors will represent our respected partners at Farm Bureau," said Kevin M. Guskiewicz.
