Mercer University Recognized As 2024 ALL IN Most Engaged Campus For College Student Voting
Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Dr. Douglas R. Pearson said that the initiatives related to votes start the minute the students step inside the campus.
Study in US: ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN), which works to improve political engagement, civic learning and voter participation on campuses across the US, has recognised Mercer University as a 2024 ALL IN Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting.
The university is one among 471 universities and colleges recognised for their extraordinary efforts to participate in the 2024 election and increase nonpartisan.
Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Dr. Douglas R. Pearson commented, “Our students continue to be dedicated to civic engagement year in and year out. I believe this sustained commitment is what sets Mercer apart from other institutions and enables us to have such impressive results.”
Assistant Director of Service and Civic Engagement Margaret Rooyakkers also commented on this achievement and said it highlights the university's ongoing efforts to have active participants in campus democracy and empower students as informed participants.
“Regardless of political affiliation, the work we do fosters a culture where every voice matters and every vote counts. This achievement is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Together, we are building a legacy of civic engagement that extends beyond the ballot box," she said.
Jennifer Domagal-Goldman, executive director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge said, “These Most Engaged Campuses are setting the standard for nonpartisan civic engagement work for colleges and universities across the country."
