Study in Australia: The University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide have merged together to establish a new higher institute Adelaide University in Australia. This new university will be a member of the 'Group of Eight' research universities.
The official statement said that the new university is being built on thousands of Indian graduates and world-class research done with Indian partners. The admission will commence in 2026 with 200 degrees on offer that include both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees related to India's skills needs.
Professor Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of External Engagement at the University of Adelaide said, “Degrees most popular with Indian students at Adelaide University’s founding institutions include information technology and computer science, engineering, construction management, data science, business, and business administration," as reported by Indian Express.
“We expect to see Indian enrolments also increase across advanced manufacturing, aviation, energy transition, and healthcare – areas that align with increasing demand in the nation,” added the professor.
There are multiple scholarship options available at the university
The new university will offer multiple scholarship options that cover up to 50% of tuition fees. The scholarships are to cater to partner students, alumni, emerging leaders and academic excellence.
The new university will offer an innovative and flexible curriculum with multiple entry paths.
“This model supports progressive learning milestones and opportunities for all students to earn digital badges, both awarded and non-awarded, creating a comprehensive portfolio of their academic and extracurricular achievements,” said the university statement.
Adelaide University officially launched in India yesterday
The event saw a panel discussion between Australia and India on mutual skill gaps, educational settings, and research priorities. The experts also discussed how the political environment is helping employment and trade between the two countries.
Prof Gallagher commented, “Joining our experience and expertise to create this new university is an exciting undertaking. We are bringing together centuries of knowledge to reimagine our curriculum, redefine the student experience, and reshape our research activities to further strengthen Adelaide as a true learner’s city."
“Adelaide University has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rethink the modern teaching and learning experience. We have engaged with more than 200 industry partners to co-design our programs to date – and that is only the beginning," added the professor.
