NZ University invites applications for Vice Chancellor's International Excellence Scholarship for India
Study in New Zealand: The University of Waikato in New Zealand is currently accepting applications for the Vice Chancellor's International Excellence Scholarship for India. The last date to apply for the scholarship is Dec 28, 2025.
Vice Chancellor's International Excellence Scholarship for India at the University of Waikato is intended to support talented students from India who are enrolling for the first time in undergraduate or postgraduate programmes at the University of Waikato.
It will be awarded to the successful students based on academic merit and will offer them a value of up to NZD$ 15,000. The subject areas for which the scholarships are available include Arts, Business / Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Education, Health, Engineering, Law, Māori & Indigenous Studies, Science, and Social Sciences. Applications for 2024 can be submitted at any time.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, the following are the eligibility criteria:
Candidate should be a citizen or permanent resident of India;
Applying to enrol full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme, as a new international student to the University of Waikato.
Have a minimum GPA equivalency of B+ in the qualification used to gain entrance to the University of Waikato.
They should have received a conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University of Waikato (including a pathway offer for a degree packaged with the Certificate of Attainment in English Language; the Certificate of Attainment in Foundation Studies; Certificate of University Preparation; International Diploma (Business); International Diploma (Computer Science) or Diploma of Postgraduate Preparation (Pre-Masters) at the University of Waikato.
Conditions of non-eligibility
Candidates will be ineligible under the following conditions:
- Those who have paid tuition fees or applied for a visa at the time of application
- Currently enrolled in the University of Waikato College or any University of Waikato degree programmes
- Coming to the University of Waikato via a sponsoring body, or on a Guaranteed Credit Arrangement, or through a study abroad or student exchange agreement.
The scholarship will be paid towards the first year of study at the University of Waikato and it will be of value between $2,500 and $15,000 The total value offered will be a contribution towards tuition fees only, and all remaining tuition fees and other costs must be met through other means, said the university.
