NZIST announces exclusive Scholarships for Indian Students worth more than NZ$200K
The newly announced scholarship by NZIST is for Indian students who are planning to pursue higher education in the science and technology fields in New Zealand. The worth of the scholarship is over NZ$200K.
Study in New Zealand: During an event at the New Zealand High Commission in New Delhi, Te Pūkenga - New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST) and Education New Zealand Manapou ki te Ao have announced exclusive scholarship for Indian students who are interested in studying science technology related course in New Zealand. The value of the scholarship is more than NZ$200K.
This scholarship is available for various courses including biotechnology, construction, agri-technology, applied health sciences, aquaculture, architecture, food technology, information technology, computing systems, digital technology, engineering (several specialisations), , veterinary nursing, nursing, quantity surveying, marine conservation, and viticulture.
While commenting on this, Ziena Jalil, Chief of Staff at Te Pūkenga - New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, said, “In a rapidly changing world, where science and technology is central to our lives and a great transformation agent, we need more people skilled in these important fields. The New Zealand Science and Technology Scholarships are part of our commitment and contribution to supporting Indian students access globally recognised qualifications, underpinned by industry best practice, in fields with high talent demand.”
“New Zealand is recognised internationally for being a creative, innovative and technology advanced country. Our education system plays an important role in supporting a thriving economy and we know that India values education as a key driver of economic development too,” added Ziena Jalil.
NZIST scholarship for Indian students aligns with NEP
As per the official statement, the scholarship is aligned with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) which means it plans to equip students with skills for pursuing global careers.
The scholarship is open to Indian students who are applying for the first year in a full-time programme in New Zealand for 2025.
“The scholarships are now LIVE for applications. More information including eligibility criteria, programmes and institute details available here: tepukenga.ac.nz/scholarship/,” reads the official statement.
The selected students will get an opportunity with NZ’s world-class education providers who provide connections to industry and local communities, career-focused applied learning, and practical support to provide hands-on experience. The class sizes will be small offering more scope for discussion and exploration.
Ziena Jalil said, “Indian students make up the largest cohort of international students across New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology and add to the rich cultural diversity on its more than 80 campus sites throughout the country.”
“It is not uncommon to see large Diwali celebrations on our campuses. We look forward to welcoming our India scholarship recipients to New Zealand and supporting them through their education journeys,” added Ziena Jalil.
