Ontario Tech University, Trafalgar Castle School Alliance To Boost Post-Secondary STEM/STEAM Opportunities
Ontario Tech University and Trafalgar Castle School aim to enhance the school's commitment to increase science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM) related learning opportunities.
Study in Canada: Ontario Tech University in Canada has partnered with the Trafalgar Castle School to ensure alignment in supporting students who are studying STEM-related courses in higher education.
Dr. Steven Murphy, the President and Vice-Chancellor of Ontario Tech University and Melissa Knight-Johnson, the Head of School at Trafalgar Castle School have signed the official agreement. The school students of Trafalgar Castle School attended the agreement signing event with Technology Teacher, Penny Senior. The university's representatives who attended the event included Jess Hogue from the university’s Office of the Registrar, and Dr. Andrew Hogue, Associate Professor, Faculty of Business and Information Technology.
While commenting on this, Dr. Steven Murphy, President and Vice-Chancellor, Ontario Tech University said, “Ontario Tech University is proud to collaborate with valued community partners like Trafalgar Castle School to provide young women with expanded opportunities to explore STEM-related disciplines early in their academic journeys. We look forward to welcoming Trafalgar students to our campus, where they can explore STEM education, discover potential career paths, and further develop their skills and knowledge through our micro-credential offerings. We need more talented young women breaking scientific barriers.”

Under the partnership, the university and school will work to improve the school's commitment to offering new learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM). They will be involved in a wide range of shared activities.
Following are the shared activities:
- Ontario Tech University guest speakers will share their insights regarding STEM-related topics with Trafalgar Castle School faculty and students.
- Both partners have shared professional development opportunities.
- Students will get experiential learning opportunities.
- School students will get access to the Preparation Program of Ontario Tech University.
- New technologies will be introduced.
- School students will get access to micro-credential courses.
- All Trafalgar Castle School students will get guaranteed admission to undergraduate programming at Ontario Tech University if they apply for it.
- Those students of Trafalgar Castle School who will join the undergraduate program at the university in September 2025, out of them three will get $2,000 Ontario Tech University scholarships.
