Admissions are open at Osaka University Japan for MEXT-Funded Master's & PhD Programs 2025. The last date to apply for the programs is Nov 15, 2024.

Osaka University Japan: Admissions open for MEXT-Funded Master's & PhD Programs 2025

Study in Japan: Osaka University's Graduate School of Engineering Science has invited applications for the 2025 batch of its MEXT-granted Master's and PhD programs in Bioengineering and Robotics Engineering.

The Japanese government has fully financed these programs and offering international students an opportunity to study cutting-edge subjects and get a world-class education. The application process will start on November 1, and the last date to apply for the course is Nov 15, 2024. The selected students will start their course on October 1, 2025.

There are four seats each for the programs in three departments which comprise the Department of Systems Innovation, Department of Mechanical Science and Bioengineering, and Department of Materials Engineering Science. The applicants must submit proof of English proficiency with scores more than 6.0 for IELTS, 550 for TOEFL-PBT, 213 for TOEFL-CBT, and 79 for TOEFL-iBT.

Eligibility Criteria, Scholarships

The following are the eligibility criteria:

  • The applicants should be from countries which have diplomatic relations with Japan.
  • International students must obtain a student visa after enrollment.
  • They must provide an academic motivation and research proposal in line with the program's objectives.
  • The applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1990.
  • Candidates must have a good academic background in bioengineering, robotics, mechanical and similar topics.
  • International students must meet the eligibility standards of the MEXT scholarship program.

These programs also have scholarship options, the candidates get scholarship support throughout their course which covers the monthly allowance of ¥148,000 for doctoral students and ¥147,000 for master's students.








"While the applicant is studying in Japan, he/she shall contribute to mutual understanding between Japan and his/her home country by participating in activities at schools and communities with the aim of contributing to the internationalization of Japan. The applicant shall make efforts to promote relations between his/her home country and Japan by maintaining close relations with the university attended after graduation, cooperating with the conducting of surveys and questionnaires after returning home, and cooperating with all relevant projects and events conducted by Japanese diplomatic missions in the applicant’s home country," reads the official notification.
