Oxford University has announced that around 38 candidates have successfully submitted their applications for the Chancellor position at the university.

Oxford University's Search For New Chancellor: Details
The first round of voting will start on October 28, and the top five candidates will be announced after the voting in the week starting from November 4, 2024. The second round of voting will take place in a week starting on November 18. The new Chancellor will be announced in the week of November 25.
"The Chancellor is the titular head of Oxford University and presides over several key ceremonies. The Chancellor also chairs the Committee to Elect the Vice-Chancellor. In addition to these formal duties, the Chancellor undertakes advocacy, advisory and fundraising work, acting as an ambassador for the University at a range of national and international events. The post has been occupied continuously at Oxford since 1224, exactly 800 years," reads the official statement.
Oxford Alumnus Awarded 2024 Nobel Prize In Economics
Oxford alumnus Professor Simon Johnson was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Currently, he is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has been awarded the Nobel Prize for his research on global inequality.
Professor Johnson shares the award with Professor Daron Acemoğlu and Professor James A Robinson.
