QS Asia University Rankings 2025: Peking University China Once Again Tops List

QS Asia University Rankings 2025 has been released, unveiling the top universities of Asia. The rankings assessed the universities across various parameters such as employability of graduates, academic reputation, citations per paper, faculty-student ratio and international engagement.

Ben Sowter, QS Senior Vice President, said, “This ranking features a record number of Asian universities. It reflects a flourishing and intensely competitive higher education ecosystem while providing insights for students and policymakers," as reported by The Print.

Peking University China has once again topped the list for the second consecutive year. It offers Master's, PhD, and MBA programs in China. The university has 30 colleges and 12 departments, 216 research institutes and research centers 81 key national disciplines, and 12 national key laboratories.

The second position was held by The University of Hong Kong. While reacting to this, the university released a statement which said, "HKU’s consistent performance in the latest rankings highlights its status as a global leader in academia and innovation, committed to shaping the future through transformative education, cutting-edge research, and a pronounced emphasis on AI-readiness. In line with these ideals, the University recently established new schools dedicated to innovation and data science, while also expanding the premises of the HKU Musketeers Foundation Institute of Data Science.  In addition, AI-related elements have been integrated into various programmes across different Faculties."

QS Asia University Rankings 2025: More Details

India has scored high in research productivity with IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay ranked at 44 and 48 respectively, Indonesia and Honk Kong universities have performed well. Malaysia research has also done well in the rankings with 32 of its universities having climbed the table, Thailand has also improved in the rankings.

There are 143 newly ranked institutes, of which The Education University of Hong Kong ranked high at 212, with significant performance in citations per paper and faculty-student. Fudan University entered the top five and the City University of Hong Kong has placed 10th place, up by seven places.
