Study Abroad: Aston University reaches finals of National Cyber Security awards
The university has reached the finals of the 2024 National Cyber Awards thanks to its CSI Centre.
Study in UK: Aston University has been selected for the title of Cyber University of the Year in the 2024 National Cyber Awards.
Professor Aleks Subic, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Aston University said, “This accolade demonstrates our commitment to supporting and advancing cyber security education, research and practice at Aston University. Recent investments in cyber security reflect our ambitious vision outlined in our 2030 Strategy to become a global higher education leader in digital innovation. A cornerstone of our strategy is the establishment and growth of the Aston University Cyber Security Innovation Centre (CSI). This centre serves as a catalyst for interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing together experts from diverse fields to tackle complex cyber security challenges."
The CSI Centre of Aston University provides leadership and expertise in cyber security and offers innovative educational programs including an MBA specialism with cyber security pathway and MSc in Cyber Security Management.
Professor Vladlena Benson, director of the Cyber Security Innovation (CSI) Research Centre, said, “As digital threats continue to grow, the importance of cyber security cannot be overstated. Cyber attacks pose a significant risk to businesses, governments and individuals. Our research activities ensure the protection of the global economy’s critical infrastructure and the security of the connected supply chain and we continue to develop new cyber security solutions to make UK the safest place for digital business. We are delighted that our work has been recognised by being shortlisted for Cyber University of the Year in the National Cyber Awards.”

Aston University in new book explores sustainability in SME
Aston University has co-authored a book on SME. Supply Chain Sustainability in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises book is written by the Dr Prasanta Kumar Dey, professor of operations management at Aston Business School, and Dr Chrisovalantis Malesios from the Agricultural University of Athens and Dr Soumyadeb Chowdhury of Toulouse Business School.
Professor Prasanta Dey said, “Small and medium-sized enterprises are the backbone of economies worldwide. Through this book, we aim to provide a comprehensive roadmap for SMEs to achieve sustainable supply chains, balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship and social responsibility. The selection of the most effective enablers across facilities, operational processes and logistics for decarbonisation is made easier through the case studies of the book. By learning from real-world case studies and expert insights, businesses can navigate the complexities of sustainability and drive impactful change. These help to develop a comprehensive reporting template for communicating energy audit outcomes to specific company for their further actions. The book also helps SMEs to develop implementation plan for decarbonisation measures."
